Dickinson State University Volleyball Announces Record Number of DAC Academic Scholars
The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Athletic Department is pleased to announce the Dakota Athletic Conference Academic Scholars Honor Roll recipients for the Women’s Volleyball Team. The Student athletes must have a cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher, earned 12 credits or more for the semester, must be listed on the NAIA Eligibility Certificate for the sport, and must have participated in the sport for the 2009 season. The recipients are as follows:
Jennifer Hartman- Miles City, Montana
Shelby Thirsk- Ardmore, Alberta, Canada
Whitley Abrahamson- Dickinson, North Dakota
Micaela Parker- Marysville, Washington
Milena Brkic- Belgrade, Serbia
Sasha Bruels- Dickinson, North Dakota

Blue Hawk Volleyball Adds Great Recruits for 2010 Season
The Dickinson State University Athletic Department and the Blue Hawk Volleyball Team is pleased to announce the signing of it's first half, letter of intent, signees for 2010. This is in conjunction with the signing of local area standout Danielle O'Donnell. Coach Platt- "We are extremely excited to have these amazing student athletes joining the Blue Hawk Volleyball family and competing with the great group we already have assembled."
Ruth Johnson is a 6’2” outside hitter originally from Prince George, British Columbia. Johnson played her 2007 freshman season for Cameron University in Oklahoma (NCAA DII). In 2008 she competed for Dawson Community College and was named to Mon-Dak All-Conference Team and the All-Region Team for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region IX. Johnson consistently led the team in both kills, hitting percentage, and aces, while finishing the 2008 season as the NJCAA’s number two ace server, although she did spend several weeks in the number one spot.
Courtnie Trustem is a 5’10” outside hitter originally from Powell, Wyoming. Trustem played the past two years for the Central Wyoming College Rustlers and, in 2009, was named All Conference, All Region, and to the All Tournament Team for the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region IX. She has a very impressive 27” vertical and has the ability to touch 9’9”. Trustem was coached by Blue Hawk alumni member Tiffany Stauffenburg at Central Wyoming College.
Chelsey Schwindt is a 5’8” Outside hitter from Cut Bank, Montana. This was Schwindt’s senior season for the Cut Bank High School Wolves as she earned 1st Team All Conference, All-State, and Academic All-State. She was also voted offensive and defensive player of the year for Cut Bank High School and was KSEN Bozeman Trophy Athlete of the Week for the week of September 10, 2009. Schwindt will also be a member of the Blue Hawk Women’s Track Team and competes in the following events- 400M, 200M, and the long jump. Like the other outside hitters signed by Blue Hawk Volleyball Schwindt has an impressive vertical of 24”.

Local Dickinson Trinity Standout Danielle O'Donnell Signs With Blue Hawk Volleyball

The Dickinson State University Athletic Department is pleased to announce the signing of local volleyball talent Danielle O’Donnell to a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent. O’Donnell played volleyball and basketball for the Dickinson Trinity High School Titans. Danielle also plays softball for Trinity High School in conjunction with Dickinson High School.
O’Donnell is a three sport athlete for the Titan teams playing middle blocker/setter for volleyball, guard in basketball, and catcher/center fielder for softball. For her 2009 volleyball season O’Donnell was twice selected for All Tourney Teams, was named All District, and All Region. For the season O’Donnell had 315 kills, 32 aces, 159 digs, and 60 blocks.
