Blue Hawk Men's Golf Team Finishes in 3rd Place at the American Midwest/Dakota Athletic Conference NAIA Unaffiliated Region Tournament

Sophomore Kyle Chan Finishes in 2nd Place!

The Dickinson State University Men’s Golf Team finished in third place at the American Midwest/Dakota Athletic Conference NAIA Unaffiliated Region Tournament, in Sioux City, Iowa. In what was a very windy tournament the team finished with a two day score of 310-321= 631 (+55) and was led by the superb play of Kyle Chan, who shot 75-75= 150. Chan is a sophomore from Richmond, British Columbia, Canada and has progressively improved over the course of the 2009-2010 season; culminating in a second place finish this past weekend.

The Blue Hawks narrowly missed finishing in second place by just two strokes, but had a great tournament and season.

The Dickinson State University Blue Hawk Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Kelsey Boedeker and Thomas Weikle were named to the All-Dakota Athletic Conference golf team.

Kelsey Boedeker is a junior from Sheridan, Wyoming and is earning her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Coaching. She recently finished in first place at the Blue Hawk Invitational and also plays on the Blue Hawk Women’s Basketball Team.

Thomas Weikle is a junior from Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, Canada. Most recently he finished in second place at the Blue Hawk Invitational and first place at the Black Hills Invitational.

Junior Kelsey Boedeker Took 1st Place at Blue Hawk Invitational With a 78!

Due to the weather the Blue Hawk Invitational was cut short and only took place on Sunday. Despite only competing for one day the Blue Hawks performed great with the Women’s Team taking first place (348 +60) and the men second (300 +12). After the season points were tallied the Blue Hawk women took third place and the men second place in the Dakota Athletic Conference.

Junior Kelsey Boedeker took home first place with the score of 41-37= 78; other Blue Hawk finishers were: 5th Brittany Backen 47-42= 89, 6th Caitlin Hurlock 49-41= 90, 12th Kim Waldner-Reid 45-46= 91, 19th Lana Scott 46-50= 96.

For the Blue Hawk Men’s Team Thomas Weikle led the charge with a second place finish 36-36= 72; other Blue Hawk finishers were: 4th Kody Harper 37-37= 74, 8th Brian Quinus 37-38= 75, 19th Kyle Chan 38-41= 79, 19th Tony Elliott 39-40= 79.

This weekend the Blue Hawks will be competing in Sioux City, Iowa at the NAIA Qualifying Tournament. They will have individual and team opportunities to play at the NAIA national championships from this competition.
