Former Dickinson State Baseball Player Signs Pro Contract
by Ryan Platt
July-08-10

Former Blue Hawk Dan Morari signed a pro contract to play for Calgary Vipers of the Golden Baseball League. He has become the 5th Blue Hawk to sign a pro contract since 2002. Morari was a standout left handed pitcher for the Blue Hawks during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He helped lead the Blue Hawks to regular season and conference tournament titles in 2006 and 2007. The Blue Hawks had an overall record of 67-32 during his two seasons.

Morari was a 2nd team All Dakota Athletic Conference selection following the 2007 season after ending the year with a 4-0 record with an ERA of 2.62 in 79.0 innings. He holds the DSU single season record of 96 strikeouts. His final season as a Blue Hawk, he held opponents to a .226 average while issuing just 19 base on balls. He started 11 games on the mound and had three complete games and two shutouts during the 2007 season.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity for Dan,” says DSU head coach Duane Monlux. “He was a very good pitcher for us for two years. He was also an outstanding student, garnering DAC Scholar Athlete honors twice as well. I think Dan will do very well in the Golden League and I am very excited to see how he progresses this season.”

Kevin Park Named NAIA All-American!!!

Blue Hawk junior 3rd baseman Kevin Park was recently named to the 2010 NAIA Baseball All-America Team as an honorable mention selection. Park had arguably one of the best seasons in DSU baseball history during the 2010 campaign. He broke DSU single season records for both homers (19) and RBI (78). He finished the year with a .371 batting average with a slugging percent of .800. He was named 1st team All DAC and was also named to the DAC Gold Glove team as at 3rd base.

“Kevin had a remarkable year for us both offensively and defensively,” says DSU head coach Duane Monlux. “Kevin is a player that has all the tools. He hits for average, power, has good speed, plays solid defense and has plus arm strength. We are excited to have him back for his senior season.”
